If you get a new engine I'd think it would more likely help when you sell car . Take it they are giving you another car whilst yours is in their care for repair ?

Yes they are probably a diesel model.this is not the point though.I have friends who are in the motor trade and they all say it will effect the residual value if a new engine is fitted.the car is only 18months old.why don't they just swap the car and deal with it in house.then they can repair the car and sell mine themselves from a forecourt.

Well we will have to disagree on the merits of having a new engine fitted .Did they say why they took this viewpoint ? Having managed in a Vauxhall dealership , I actually had this same situation many years ago and the customer was delighted with the outcome .After 18 months it's really unlikely that the car would be replaced .
