Numerous problems!!

2006 Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 CDTi Design

Right, now there seems to be a couple of problems/issues with my Corsa and I could do with a bit of advise if you will, kind people of autoinsider. p.s. please bare with me!

The first (and most noticable) issue I have is with the Turbo. It is making a distinctive screach / screaming noise when accelerating at round 1.5 - 2k rev's. It was taken for a service last year, but nothing was mentioned about it.

Second I believe to be a clutch problem. When in neutral, engine running, there is a quiet yet audible tapping/rattling noise that seems to be coming from the clutch. The reason I say this is if you rest your foot onto the clutch pedal, you can feel the tapping. Again nothing was picked up in the service (not sure if they actually check this) but I'm not sure what to think of it.

Third is the headlights. I dont know if this is a wide-spread issue with the Corsa, but the headlights are rediculously dim. Driving on back roads is nothing short of dangerous in the dark as it is, but this has caused me some serious grief. I've also noticed that if you use any other electronics (ie electric windows) the headlights dim further for a few seconds, then return to normal!

Last is the either the fuel gauge or the fuel comsumption. Just recently I have noticed that my fuel seem to be rapidly disapearing for no reason at all. Take one trip for example. A simple 6 mile trip, very flat road, no traffic & low rev's took nearly 1/8th of a tank of diesel.... yet the trip to work the next day (16 mile round trip) took absolutely no fuel whatsoever. I have been told by a friend of mine that he has problems with the fuel gauge on his Corsa (new model, 2008) but I'd just like to check with you guys.

Appologies for the the long 'article' but i'd really like to try and put these issues to bed, without it costing me an arm and a leg.

Many thanks in anticipation of your replies.

John.

firstly the noises from the turbo is signs of the turbo being starved of oil common fault with the 1.3td corsas if you have warranty basically its the bearings in the turbo as it rides on a film of oil and the noise you are getting is the finns catching the casing i would say but have it checked out and the problems with the fuel gauge is most likely going to be the body control module that needs replacing as it is again a common problem as for the fuel you are using more one day then the other days again all i can say here is you may have a diesel pump fault have a diesel specialist check this out hope this helps with your problems

Thank you very much Thomkas, I'll have them checked out. The only concern I have now is that my Corsa would have been under warranty had DC Cook not have gone down the swanny. Are said repairs likely to be costly? I know it really needs sorting ASAP (especially as I have an 800 mile round trip coming in June!) but cash is a real problem right now...

Anymore suggestions on the possible clutch & head-light issues??

Thanks again..
