Time belt snapped and I was asked to change the whole engine. Is it possible to have damaged the whole engine because it snapped

It's very possible but usually it just bends the valves or possibly damages the cylinder head and you could fit another head if needed . But you need to firstly pull head off to examine for damage , check that the pistons , bores have not been damaged also .
