my headlights constantly fade [almost looks like lights are flashing] and my battery warning light flickers on [even though i had new battery fitted ]also occasionally power steering goes stiff for a couple of seconds and while driving on motorway my rev counter and speedo suddenly both drop back to zero then start working normally again , this is occurring more and more regularly [van was serviced just before xmas and was told alternator working ok ]any ideas ?

id check the fan belt tension first if its ok the problem lies with the alternator

sounds like the alternator bearings have had it these bearings are not too difficult to change generally speaking and should not cost any more than a fiver the pair to renew from a local bearing stockist not a garage, although getting them off the shaft can be troublesome.
