2019 Vauxhall ADAM problem engaging gears, intermittent.

Car had been driving fine no problems, came back from shopping and couldn't get the car in gear at all. After several attempts managed to get it into 1st gear but the same issue when trying to move up the gear box to drive. Back home, engine off and all gears available but not when engine running. My son tried it sometime later and it appeared to be working ok + I tried it this morning, again OK when engine off and running. I'm nervous to drive it in case the same thing happens. Spoken to local Vauxhall dealer where I purchased the car, no availability to look at the car until 15th March 2023, with a charge of £120 to just diagnose.

Hard to diagnose fault if you cant replicate it on checking . Could cost you a £120 for nothing if fault not there . Might be an idea to phone another dealership and ask them if there is a known problem with this . I have heard of problems with the clutch on that car .

Sorry for delayed response. Unfortunately No, I decided to wait to see if it happens again rather than pay £120 if this issue is not there. I did own an Adam previously which had the same type of issue but only with reverse gear. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thank you for the reply Denise, has it happened again? My son paid £400 today for a garage to look at his car and they said that there was a tube that had a kink in it and there was brown staining around that area and he thought that this might of been the issue as the clutch looked fine. Thank you

What did they actually do for £400 .? was the " tube that had a kink in it " the hydraulic clutch pipe ? was it replaced ? Did they strip down the clutch and examine / replace it to decide " it looked " fine ?

Hi, thankfully nothing further has happened. I did have a problem with a previous Adam I owned, with just reverse gear, this issue was fixed but this was 4years ago & I can't remember what they said it was.
