2006 Vauxhall Astra gear/starting

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.6
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi

I have an intermittent problem.

When I start the car sometimes I cannot get into any gear. I will have to switch the engine off and on a number of times and eventually the car will go into gear and I will have no problems for the rest of the trip, until I switch off.

selector box mechanism on top of the gearbox may be worn hence the trouble getting gears but also could suspect clutch but heres some ideas for you

i had same problem and it was annoying if you have a hydraulic clutch you might find that it could be the concentric unit (trust bearing )which is worn i changed that and it worked for me

just another idea ?
