2009 Skoda Fabia front passenger door won't lock with remote

Hi, got a Skoda fabia 2009, the passenger door will not lock with the remote or when I use the key on drivers door. For security I remove the bung and press the lever forward on the passenger door, this locks the door then lock the car using the remote. The odd thing is when I open the car with the remote it opens the passenger door. Does this indicate the central locking s ok on the door.if so why won't it lock the passenger door. Can anyone help. Sorry for the excessive waffle

Check the wiring from the A pillar into the door frame ( in rubber sheath ) for damage or breaks .
