2003 Rover 45 idle speed

I had my alternator replaced last week. Since then instead of idling just under 1000rpm and steady the idling speed is lumpy and rises to about 1250 up and down. Any help appreciated.

Take it back to whoever replaced the alternator for checking for fault that was not there prior to them doing the job and also for checking the charging rate .If charging o.k , get them to check no breather hoses / vacuum hoses are leaking or have maybe been dislodged when they were doing the work . Check the idle air control valve is not needing cleaned or replaced .Clean / check the throttle body if needed
