2011 Renault Megane check child safety device

The error CHECK CHILD SAFETY DEVICE and “SPANNER” warning light remain on after removing and returning battery after charging.
The child locks on the rear door were enabled and have been disabled and re-enabled in an attempt to clear the fault.

I appeared to have solved the issue. The error was appearing because the rear windows were enabled for opening from the rear.
When I locked the windows using the button on the drivers door the error message and SERVICE light disappeared and OK appeared.
It does seem strange a more explicit message did not appear giving the information that the rear windows required locking.
