Intermittent loss of turbo power

2006 Peugeot 407 2.0 litre Turbo Diesel
Car: Peugeot 407
Year: 2006
Variant: 2.0 litre Turbo Diesel
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
When driving on motorways the car loses the ability to accelerate except at snails pace. Power returns when I stop and restart the engine. I guess it's something to do with the turbo although I have no problems with acceleration in normal town driving. Before I pay out for a new turbo I'd be interested if anyone's experienced a similar problem.

there is a possibility that that you are experiencing particulate filter regeneration although it shouldnt have such a dramatic effect.I would get ecu read for any faults although you havent said management light comes on.

intermittent power loss is usually linked to overboosting or air leaks. look at the boost pressure regulator and check the pipes/hoses are not kinked or split, but DO have it code read to point you in the right direction
