HI all. I have had an intermittentproblem with my pug for about 3 months.
whenever i went on a longish journey, about an hour or more, a fault code would come up, antipollution fault, speed sensor fault, and the cruise control wouldn't work. It would lose a bit of power, so i would stop, restart and everything was fine again.
It did this about 5 times. took it into a dealer when the light was on and they said could be ECU fault.(£79 for the diagnosis)
took it to my local dealer and they couldn't find a fault code for 3 days of it being with them. Eventually they got the light to come on again, said it was a fuel line prob. asked if they could do a wiring check for another £60. found that it was the fuel pressure sensor. they wanted £430 for the job but i said no. they then said that the car had broken down in their garage and would have t be recovered! it had never failed before so i don't know what happened. I got it recovered home and a local RAC guy (Ex merc and pug mechanic) came to do the job. he has changed the rail and sensor but now there are loads of faults coming up. engine switches on but i get auto gearbox failure, antipollution fault, esp fault.
when i try to put it in reverse it clunks and cuts out. i can start it in neutral and then quicly pass it to gear 1 of the tip box and it stays on, then, from there it will go into every other gear, drive, neutral, reverse and park. i can then get it to go into reverse again without cutting out. it clunks into gear though. i never had this problem before the pug dealer got his grubby hands on it. what have they done to my lovely car??? I changed the battery too, cos one cell hadfailed to be on the safe side.

any ideas, i am totally gutted.
the original fault code of the pressure sensor is still there even tho i have changed it. ( he has the equip to reset ecu)

only 4 years old and peugeot cant fix it! i work for a main dealer and although its out of warantee we would look at a car of this age with backup of our franchise factory and only charge if fixed and not take a stab in the dark and charge every time unless fixed.i suggest you ring pug customer services and have a good moan they will prob tell you to take it to another dealer and monitor that dealers progress and costs.they will also contact the dealer that did the orignal work.
