On turning the ignition on the car starts then cuts out after a few seconds then will not start . I had it towed of and it started and ran all day with no problem . Until the next morning then same again it started for a few seconds then cut out . Any ideas please

Check the filter/housing for vacuum leaks where air can be sucked in.
Remove the housing cap and check there's a good amount of fuel actually in the filter housing and look for metal swarf in the bottom of the filter bowl.
If there's none then it's back to the above for leaks or faulty non return valve.
It just sounds like there's little or no fuel in the filter.
