2005 Peugeot 407 sudden loss of power and engine cutout

Car: Peugeot 407
Year: 2005
Variant: Hdi
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
This is actually my son in laws car, he experienced a sudden loss of power and the engine cut out, now it's turning over but not firing and also at the same time the driver side electric window wont go back up. A fault code reader showed nothing. There were no warning lights showing when it died.

Not surprised a "fault code reader" showed nothing,
they seldom do with this year of diesel.
or worse give crud for codes,
very misleading.
You will only get reliable sense with Peugeot Planet diagnostic software.
The 2 faults might be related,
or not.
A P P global scan will show true faults,
And with P P the tech can operate many systems without pressing buttons on the car.
About the only advise I can give that you could test yourself is watch the rev counter when cranking,
it should read something,
maybe only 100 RPM,
but if it reads zero then suspect the CRANK ANGLE SENSOR.
Critical for it to function or the engine wont start.
Usual symptom is just like the key has been turned off!
dash lights and everything else work but non runner.
