Acceleration problem

When I depress throttle hard car seems to lurch and not gain speed. If I gradually accelerate the car will go to speed fuel consumption seems to be suffering any ideas

Only way you will find the problem is to get it scanned or get it road tested / diagnosed by a auto gear box specialist
