2007 Peugeot 308 abs faulty

i was driving along a road a hour ago and couldnt keep grip so was wheel spining at 15mph for about 5minuts, then there was a warning sound and a message on the display saying "ABS Faulty" and the stop light was illuminated.
Any ideas for why this has happend?
i re-started the engine and it had seemed to fix itself, but i cant exacly be re-starting the engine while im sliding down a hill.

Have the ABS sensor check togehter with the braking system.
