this has occurred after charging up battery. It started up first time no problem . when i started up the second time all the warnig lights flashed until a few moments later they all cleared. A day later and am unable to access car?

Try WD40 into key hole and give a good soaking , then working back and forth to free off and allow manual opening

From what you say , does sound like battery gone , possibly weak / dud cells which wont hold a charge .
