2015 Peugeot 208 engine light comes on and loud fan on

Every now and then engine light comes on and cooling fan loud , if I turn car off and leave for 5 minutes all ok again , is quite sluggish in 2nd gear , changed thermostat but still same

Sure it's not just the DPF regenerating which is normal ?

No sorry forgot to say it’s a petrol 1litre engine

No stored fault codes if you scan it ? possibly engine coolant temp . sensor ? Is it perhaps sluggish / noisy fan when air con on ?

No fault code showing, it is quite sluggish especially in 2nd which is strange feels like struggling for petrol at times in 2nd

You checked it with suitable scanner ? RE sluggish , checked the basics like plugs , battery condition , alternator charging rate ,

Could also check / clean MAP sensor
