Rear wiper does not stop

my rear wiper does not stop even when lever is at off position, i currently have the motor unplugged at the rear but as soon as i plug it in the wiper starts.
I'm not sure whether i need a new motor or would it be a wiring problem

Check for broken wiring where it passes through into tailgate .
