1999 Peugeot 206 pulls to right under power

Car pulls to right under power then pulls back to left when lifting off eg, when depress clutch to change gear. Have been told its a worn differential & the gearbox/diff needs changing which will be expensive!
Wheels are not out of balance & there is no vibration through the steering wheel.

Could check engine mountings .

Have you checked your tyre pressures since this started? If one has lower pressure the car will veer that way under acceleration. Good luck!
