206 wont start

After a long journey if the car is swithed off it will not start again. The ignition is on but the starter motor will not turn. To start the car it needs to be left for a good while. wiggling the brown lead to the starter motor appears to help but this may be a red herring. Please can anyone suggest a solution.

all i can suggest is clean the contacts up and replace but remove the battery positive lead first as you dont want to short out anything
