2002 Peugeot 206 engine cuts out.

I have noticed a lot of people seem to be having trouble with this make and model , with interminent engine cut outs. I have had a similar problem over the last few months.It would start, run and cut out with the engine either hot or cold.The car has been looked at, examined, but no fault was ever found...However this week the car suffered from total electrical failure.A mechanic friend came and looked at it. He discovered that the battery box earth lead had snapped.This couldnt be seen as the plastic covering had stretched but the inner cable had broken, hence some time it made contact and other times it did'nt .Apparently Peugout make this cable so tight a fitting there is little give in it, so going over a bump can break the cable.I have replaced the earth cable and the car now runs fine. Just a thought if you have tried everything else.
