2001 Peugeot 206 car dying

When i started the car this morning it took a while to start, then i puched the accelerator and there was nothing. The car drove with little power but cut out, started again with no problems but when i drove it cut out again. when it cut out the battery, and oil light came on, checked the oil and it is fine :S any help is great!! as i know nothing at all about cars lol

Could be many causes , i.e could be engine coolant temperature sensor ,are plugs o.k ? The ignition light and oil light are working the way they should , this is normal .
