Engine lossing power lght on dash flshes

had prob with 206 peugeot the engine maint light cme on acceleration would not get pst 2nd gear, aa came out said it was coil and sparks changed them still same prob, took to garage they checked said it was prob wt main elect board changed that at 250 plus vat, they phone back to say that not cured prob engine still misfiring, they want to change cam belt then if not that they want to strip engine will cost around 1000 for them to do this help any suggestions

They said "it was prob wt main elect board changed that at 250 plus vat, " and didn't fix car .Are they going to give you back the £250 for work and part incorrectly diagnosed as fault ? Now they want to replace cambelt and see if that works .Then if that doesn't work they want to strip down engine !! I would take car to another garage who can run a scan and diagnose fault rather than trying this and that at your expense .

I take it fuel pressure has been checked and also the injectors
