2001 Peugeot 206 loud squeeking noise

My car has quite a loud squeeking noise coming from the rear. When I push the car down it squeeks.I can here it when i am dricing along but I have ignored it and turned the CD up! But I am getting worried now it may be something serious.My neighbour had a quick look, sprayed it with WD40 and no change, and said there were no visible leaks from the shock absorbers. Hope someone may be able to help.

Check all rear mountings / bushes and coil springs .

i had that trouble before and it was my suspension if thats any help to you :)

torsion bar bushes worn?do normal checks for play in rear suspension arms/bushes and check nut/bolt tightness and give everything a good spray with wd40,could even be brakes,check the pads and discs are not on limit,might just need a deglaze

suspension arm bearings may be worn. An easy check is to stand at rear of vehicle and look at the angle of the rear wheels.

Thank you for your answers. The rear wheels are both slightly angled in. The wheels are not rubbing on anything yet. Never noticed it before. What do I do now. Assuming I need to go to a garage, is it a major job?

I would take it to a garage just to get it checked out. It may just be a noisy damper
