1999 Peugeot 206 bleeping noises

I have had my car for nearly 2 years and when I lock the car with the central locking, and then press the smaller button to activate the alarm everything has been fine. all of a sudden yesterday, i pressed the smaller button and there is a really loud noise, its the sound of the alarm but only for a short time. how do i switch this off as its really loud and embarressing! I dont think i did anything differnt to change it to make that noise...?!

you need to check all your door pin switches to make sure none are broke or damaged,even the ones on the bootlid and bonnet,if you have a motion sensor inside then check the wiring to this,if nothing obvious then get a diagnostic done on alarm system to identify any fault codes

thanks. sorry i may be being a bit stupid, but does that mean that there is actually something wrong with it rather than just a setting thats turned on which makes a noise when you turn on the alarm? i know that some cars do that as a kind of confirmation that its activated and i was hoping it was just that?!

Double lock it with the top button on fob if this is automatic locking? make sure the windows are up as this sets alarm off, lights off etc. other than that no reason why it should. I had the same problem but when I double pressed the top button on key fob it stopped it being so senstive usually only have to do this in winter when there is loads of wind. Hope that helps

The ultra sonics can be troublesome.
Depending on your year of car I would probably disconnect the ultra sonic alarm box tucked up above the pedals,then monitor it.
