Noisy fan motor, now doesnt seem to work...?

ive had my car about 12 months and until recently the fan was noisy and made a clanking noise it was quite embarasing but it did cool the engine down. now however when the car is left running and gets hot the fan does not kick in atall just the red stop light comes on and ive to switch the engine off before it overheats.

any suggestions what the problem is here please?

Sounds as if you electric fan has finally packed up and needs replaced .You may also have blown a fuse / relay with it running in that condition .You should be able to pick one up in a scrappie if you want to save some money . Easy to fit and would be advisable to get it replaced asap or else you could end up with damage to engine if you keep running with fan knackered .You could also check this from Peugeot forum re. fan not kicking in on that car .

hi,,also check fuse 7 and 29 ofbm34(under bonnet fuse box)

first thing to try tho is the disconnecting of brown sensor plug to confirm if motor runs.

not sure of exact temp,but think around 94deg.

and

apart from the relays/wiring the fan rheostat is very common(seen through lower grill of bumper,10mmbolt holds it)

if the fan was noisey before and making a clonking noise,check that the fan is tightly fitted and that none of the blades are damaged.disconnect the fan motor wiring and check that you have power and earth,

If you want a new fan assembly , usually plenty on E-bay .
