3rd and 4th gear feels very loose and occaisionally falls out of gear when in 3rd only. the car still drives in these gears

sounds like the gear linkage is worn,either the cables need adjusting or replacing.if it is a rod linkage the bushes may be worn.also check there is no excess movement in the selector on the gearbox

Common fault on the 206 and 106 , also Saxo , is wear on gear linkage . Simple job to replace worn part that you could do yourself .
