2002 Peugeot 206 anti air pollution light comes on, then engine cuts out.

Car: Peugeot 206
Year: 2002
Variant: Roland Garros
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Last weekend the engine immobiliser fault light came on. I called breakdown guy and he disconnected battery and opened and closed all doors. After about 20 minutes, the car started without a problem. As I was driving along today, the car started to Kangaroo, then carry on as normal. It was sluggish and felt it didn't want to pick up speed. Then the anti air pollution light came on. The engine then started cutting out when I slowed down. Started ok the first few times but now engine immobiliser fault light has come on and engine is dead.

A lot of manufacturers suggest a run down motorway at speed for 45 mins or so clears / cleans problem . Usually worse if car used mostly in town etc.

Someone else with the same problem on a 307and there solution ,

ive got a 307 and had this problem and found theres a filter in the exhaust that gets full of soot and requires regeneration and you can do this by going for a drive for about 40-50 mins at 50 in 3rd or 4th gear to create heat to burn the soot out of the filter and regen the fluid and this should clear the prob
good luck

If not solution , will need to get a diagnostic scan to see what faults show .
