1999 Peugeot 206 engine cut's out while driving and will not start again?

Car: Peugeot 206
Year: 1999
Variant: 2.0L GTI
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The problem i am having is while driving along at any speed and the engine cut's out all of a sudden and the whole car loses complete power, because the car has no power this means, no lights, no power steering, no brakes and loses speed rapidly. Every single warning light on the dashboard starts flashing. The car will not start again, the engine will crank but not start. Any idea's what this could be.. Please help? :)

Quite a common fault , best bet to get car in to garage for a diagnostic scan and see what shows .

It turned out to be a faulty Earth lead. There was a small cut where the wires met the chassis, it wasn't totally sheared, hence why i could still crank the engine. It only cost me £5 so i'm a happy bunny, Problem solved! Thanks for your advice anyway :)
