2000 Peugeot 206 air conditioning rattle

Hi,

My first car and already i'm asking questions!

We picked the car up on Saturday (private sale) and after about 15 miles of driving the AC starts to make this really odd ticking / rattling noise.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? I've been told it could be something to do with the relay but i don't know what that means?

Can anyone help me?

does it sound like it comes from under the bonnet as there is a clutch on the compressor they can sometimes make a noise when ac is on.if its this a new compressor or compressor rebuild will be reqd.there are plenty of ac specialists out there
