Overheating

The temperature on my car rises rapidly when i slow down due to traffic.Jow do i fix this?

First thing I would check is when the engine is hot check for circulation, rad and hoses should be hot, if rad is cold and hoses are very hot then suspect partially blocked rad, also cooling fan should come on when coolant reaches a set temperature, if fan does not come on could be temperature sensor fault or more likely faulty fan or relays. An auto electrician should be able to confirm fan and relays are operational.
