2001 Peugeot 206 whistling when foot is off break

There is a high picthed whistling coming from the passenger side of the dashboard whenever you take your foot off the break. The noise can be quietened by touching the break extremely gently a couple of times, or accelerating quickly. As far as I can tell, the performance of the car is still fine and the breaks havnt been affected, but it is quite a loud noise. Any ideas?

sounds like the brake servo is leaking have a listen up behind the glovebox where the linkage goes out through the bulkhead if the noise is there the servo is faulty
