Car won't start, sounds like it is struggling to start

2001 Peugeot 206 2ltr hdi
Car: Peugeot 206
Year: 2001
Variant: 2ltr hdi
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
We have changed alternator belt, it was still on car but shredded and wouldn't start , charged battery but still won't start, just sounds like it struggling to start and sluggy
Problem added: Jul 13, 2015 (8 years ago)
If it's been runing for a while with the belt slipping the battery may be knackered , despite charging . Might be worthwhile getting it tested , meanwhile try a jump start with a good set of leads .Could also be a " lazy " starter dragging battery down .

You state the belt shredded?
so just have look see if any of the belt has got behind the crankpully,

bring it to a mechanic

Good suggestion by 1/4 drive , have seen on some makes shredded belt damage crank sensor , causing non start

I think 1/4 drive was referring to the ancillary belt making the cam belt jump or worse still break,I have seen this a few times. The engine speed sensor is fitted on the gearbox
