Radiator fun not working

2005 Peugeot 206 1.4hdi
Car: Peugeot 206
Year: 2005
Variant: 1.4hdi
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
car runs ok. except when idling in stop position. this results in over heating. I have discovered the fan works but will not come on at anytime when using the car?

Think you need to replace the temp sensor on the side of the radiator.

This controls when the fan needs to start up.

It obviously is not working correctly...

It sounds like a coolant thermistor fault or maybe even a fan resistor fault. The resistor is to the left of the radiator cowling at the bottom and can be viewed through the front grill. Does the car actually overheat or does the gauge just shoot into the red and a stop light flashes?

It appears a wire had broken away from its relay under the relay housing on the radiator & fan housing mounting unit. The fan it appears had not been working for some time. Occasionally the engine light would come on but after a while sometimes it would go off.
since repairing this little fault I think the car seems to have gain some acceleration.
