2003 Peugeot 206 oil leak

Car: Peugeot 206
Year: 2003
Variant: GTI 180
Categories: Leaks & Noises
I have a very slow oil leak which I have located at the opposite end of the sump which has a connector going into it similar to the reversing light switch which I think is the oil pressure warning light switch? As I can't get a manual for my car and the Hayes 206 manual does not have my engine showing, really need to know if this is just the washer given out or the whole switch? if so, will I need to drain the sump or can I change this washer by just replacing either the switch or washer. Big question is will a lot of oil come by replacing this switch, any help and advise would very much be appreciated

Thanks

best to replace switch should come with new washer do not overtighten new switch no need to drain sump and you will not loose much oil when changeing switch maybe just a trickle as no pressure when engine not running

That's your oil level/temp sensor

Further to my previous question, just been to peugeot spares dept, they advised me that the Oil Pressure Sensor Switch I refereed to in my previous question is in fact the "Engine Oil Sump Filter Probe" I take it I won't have to drain the oil out in order to replace this?

Again, any advise/information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

you could lose some oil depends on high it sits on the sump why dont you wait till it is due an oil and filter change and do the job when sump is drained i assume your car has an alloy sump

Hi Roverman, thanks for your comments. Only just did an oil and filter change in April so not due one till next year, yes it's an alloy sump and this probe connection is located towards the base of the sump so feel that I will need to drain the oil if this is to be change. Will need to jack the car up and take a closer look as the probe is working fine, just seems like the seal has given out

Depending on switch position , could you not jack up one side and let the oil in sump lie away from switch ?

Having done a recent oil change as I saw a very very slow drip of oil from the base of the oil filter thought the oil filter was leaking. On a further check after I did this change notice the oil drip again. On checking further, it appears to be leaking from the top of the housing where the oil filter screws onto. Looks as though the O ring seal has given out. My question is would I need to do a full oil drain in order to replace this seal or just get away from removing the oil filter which I know I will loose some oil. Not the best area to have to change a oil seal!

Any advice would very much be appreciated

Thanks
