Came across that before on some cars and was caused by the depth of socket .This explains ,

Cigarette Lighter Socket Problem

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bipper came with 12v accessory socket that takes different plug, I just got the Peugeot cigarette lighter socket from Peugeot dealer today and fitted it to find it is same fitting as 12v accessory socket, socket is 5mm shorter and 1.6mm wider inside than a standard cigarette lighter socket, Halfords are aware of it as warned me that a sat nav plug will not hold in socket, can't find the the shorter, fatter plug to fit anywhere, it a pain in the a__e.
Has anyone else had this problem if so how did you get round it?
I understand this 22mm shorter socket is a European version but no one seems to make a plug to fit it, the original cigarette lighter socket is 20mm and Japanese 21mm, same plug will work on 20mm & 21mm but so loose in the 22mm it can cause tip to overheat by shorting as loose plug works it's way out so unless they make a plug or adapter to make it work properly it could be dangerous, only thing I can find to fit the 22mm is the cigarette lighter element unit. If you know of a 22mm plug supplier please post their details.

Dont know if the likes of Maplins supply an adaptor or not .If really stuck could but the likes of this and rig up to suit .

If you bought an original from Peugeot it will still have the same problem ? i.e not suitable for sat nav etc. See on link where it says Halfords warn it will not work. If you are getting power/ earth at socket it's got to be the push in fitting .Maplins do various adaptors which you may solve your problem .
