Front side lights come on when braking

Fitted replacement cd/radio yesterday but today when I brake the front sidelights come on and the mileometer trip goes out. After braking everything returns to normal.Didn't have the problem yesterday after fitting. If driving with side lights on problem except for mileometer doesn't happen.My thought is an earthing problem with the new unit-any other thoughts/similar experiences?

Earthing problem is usually the cause .Check light earths and any earth fitted from engine / gearbox to body .

remove and disconnect new cd player then check if fault has gone if it has you must have got some wires mixed up probably
the ilumination wire that was used with the old unit you will not need this wire connecting with after market cd player as will only light up when cd turned on with old unit set iluminated when side lights turned on hope this helps
