2002 Peugeot 206 gauges flicking to zero on start up - battery low

Car: Peugeot 206
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.4 automatic lx 2002
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
When I start the car in the morning the battery is a bit low (multimeter reading 12.01 volts), car starts and rev counter, fuel gauge flick to zero and then back to normal, airbag light sometimes stays on. Idle a bit rough and then on restarting car all is normal. Would the battery being in need of replacement be the problem?

Common fault on a lot of cars when battery low .

On that age of vehicle I would get the battery checked as it could well be past it,s best.
