Car in Limp Mode after battery change

2003 Peugeot 206 2.0L LX Hdi
Car: Peugeot 206
Year: 2003
Variant: 2.0L LX Hdi
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
I've just changed the battery as it was dead. The battery was disconnected for a couple hours. Now it starts like a dream but the car is in 'limp mode' it seems. Won't rev above 2000rpm with foot right down and is slow. Help?

Car may require adapted by computer but you could try disconnecting-reconnecting the earth lead to battery.

i would check to make sure you havent dislodged the throttle cable retaining clip by accident!! the adjustment will be altered and you wont get full throttle.

Before disconnecting battery the ignition should be turned off, then wait a few minutes until car goes into economy mode(leave door open and wait for interior light to go out to be sure).
After fitting new battery do NOT turn on the ignition for at least 10 mins. Before turning on ignition flash the headlamps 3 or 4 times to wake up the ECU,it will now be safe to start without causing any probs
