1999 Peugeot 206 interior (boot) rear light not working

Variant: 206 LX
Depsite replacing the light unit, the rear boot light will not work on my Peugeot 206 LX. (I understand that there is a microswitch built into the car's hachback locking mechanism catch?) I will be grateful for any advise on how to fix this problem. Many thanks, Roger

On some cars the boot light wont come on unless the sidelights are on . Worth checking . On most cars it should operate at any time the boot opened .If it has a micro switch on boot lock you will have to pull trim off and check switch / wiring and check if getting power .
