2001 Peugeot 206 mot failure

Car: Peugeot 206
Year: 2001
Variant: 1.4 lx
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
My little 206 has just failed its mot badly i'm in complte shock to how bad,
It has failed all its emission tests and the brake hose has twisted,
The 3 emissions tests it has failed it hasn't failed by a little but by a lot,
The car has a new lambda sensor on it so don't think it could be that causing it, but the guy said it could be the fact that it still has its original cat convertor on it and from a few years ago a new one was developed to remove even more emissions, If anyone has any ideas if they think the cat would cause this please let me know, also about the offside brake hose it has twisted from steering column any ideas on a price for a replace and fit average price not a quote, Any help would be grately recieved as i need to decide by the 16th whether to repair or scrap the car,
thanks in advance

The brake hose should not be an expensive job, but the CAT could be expensive. Depends on how much you love the car, as to whether you spend money to repair it or if you scrap it...

An M.O.T. Has to take into consideration the age of cars so a modified cat should not be essential unless it is a commercial vehicle wanting to enter London. If your exhaust is blowing or faulty this could affect your emissions. Your idle speed, fuel mixture could affect your emissions too
