2007 Mitsubishi L200 auto stuck in safe mode ..sometimes !

Auto stays in safe mode. Comes out occasionally and drives perfectly changing up down and overdrive. Would a faulty solenoid cause this or is it more likely to be loom problem. Any one else had this problem? Won't reset if battery disconnected. Just comes back and works fine of its own accord . Flashing d on dash etc.

Scan it rather than guess and see what codes you get .

Check the auto transmission oil. But as advised get it scanned.
