2004 MG ZR starts and cuts out

when I start my ZR it fires up then cuts out straight away. it only does this when starting from cold and it takes a few attemps to get it to fire. when it does i have to give it some throttle. once the revs have gone over 2000rpm it will idke as normal.has anyone else had this problem and how can i fix it? I suspect its the fuel pump not priming but not sure!

Could try cleaning the throttle body and change the plugs...
