2014 Mercedes Benz C Class hi my engine management light has come on and when i’ve put it on diagnostics machine it’s saying fail, clutch or clutch fail. what does that mean?

My engine management light has come on. I’ve put it on the diagnostics machine and it’s coming up fail clutch. Does that mean I need a new clutch or do I need to check transmission fluid?

It's possible that the clutch may need to be replaced but really need to get it checked out , road tested to verify or not
