Engine cuts off

1999 Ford Galaxy 1.9 tdi auto

when I start the engine it stays on only when it's on P, N OR R but when I select D to move on the engine cuts off and it just dies completely, on the dash board the lights that looks like a rolled up wire starts flshing.

any suggestions please

Looks like it might be the glow plug warning light .Might need to get it scanned to see what shows . You can also get trouble with the brake light switch .There are a few posts here which explains fault ,
