Cannot select first & second gears when coming down through the gears

Check gear linkage at gearbox and try lubricating and working in the likes of WD 40 . This gives you an idea of what's involved . If not that , may be general wear on clutch assembly .

Thanks for response. I missed out the word intermittently btw. Would that still be the recommendation?

Hard to say if only doing it intermittently , most faults are related to doing it all the time , Could check clutch fluid reservoir level
