2014 Ford C-MAX acceleration juddering, now in limp mode

I ran out of gas then refueled with a gas can. Then the problems started: While accelerating, the vehicle would suddenly slow down very quickly then pick up speed again. This started to slowly increase until I got a red triangle message telling me to stop the car. After I turned off the car, I was still able to turn it on but the power steering was off and the acceleration was off. I could still change gears, work the radio, etc.

First thing to check would be your battery voltage and alternator charging rate under load . If not that , needs scanned for fault codes and see what shows

I'd like to add that the OBD didn't give any codes.

With the faults described and the red triangle message there should be stored fault codes , may need checked with Forscan . As far as I know there is only a fuel filter in the tank which could get clogged but if any other , worth checking
