2012 Citroen C1 clutch burned out whilst driving uphill

Slight smell of clutch before incident. Noticed a cloud of smoke behind as I drove up hill. At top of hill clutch totally failed. I had only driven 360 miles after buying it second hand.

Was there no signs of clutch on it's way out on road testing prior to buying ?

No nothing at all apart from an occasional smell a couple of weeks earler

Oh yes, 3 months! Not worth the paper it was written on. They declared Wear and Tear. As they are an AA approved dealer I have taken the matter up with them…360 miles in 2 months. They don’t hold up much hope since the clutch can be abused.

" often the case , as is " wear and tear " The only hope you really have is when it's stripped down for new clutch there is a faulty / defective part or the likes of an oil leak onto the clutch plate from a crankshaft seal or somewhere else which cant be classed as wear and tear .
