On certain vehicles there is an error in the specific software calibration of the engine electronic control unit. as a consequence the malfunction indicator light (mil) will not turn on when the urea consumption (which is part of the exhaust after treatment system) is lower than target threshold.

On affected vehicles due to a programming error there is a possibility that a multi-information display used for warning and indicator lights vehicle gauges messages etc will become blank and will not display certain warnings and indicators. as a result other functions such as turn signal lamps hazard lights and the pre-collision system will be deactivated and the vehicle may not meet certain regulations. driving without these functions may result in an increased risk of a crash in certain driving conditions.

Affected vehicles have an inappropriate design of the control circuit of the rear combination lamp and the voltage applied to the leds in the rear combination lamp could be reduced in certain circumstances. if this were to occur the rear turn signals and/or the hazard warning flasher may temporarily become inoperable. if the condition is present the driver may notice the turn signal indicator rapidly flashing on the instrument panel when the turn signal switch is turned on but other road users may not realize that the rear turn signal or the hazard warning flasher have been activated potentially increasing the risk of a crash.

On affected vehicles there is a possibility that the dcm may not complete the shutdown process within a specific period of time when the ignition is turned off causing the dcm to not restart at the next ignition cycle and making the e-call function unavailable. as a result the vehicles do not comply with relevant regulations.
