1999 Volvo V40 tickover

Car: Volvo V40
Year: 1999
Variant: 1.8i GDI Direct injection Manual
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Hello
Could you please help in solving a bad tickover problem. When the engine is cold it starts up and runs spot on,but when it warms up this is when the tickover starts to go up and down sometimes worse than others.
when the heater is on speed 4 this tends to steady the problem a little bit.
I have heard that these cars suffer with throttle body problems.
I have cleaned it out with carb cleaner but no different.
Please help,
Many thanks
Nick

This is a lean burn engine used by mitsubishi and your problems going to be caused by clogged up valves, the only way to fix it is by stripping the engine and doing a full de-coke on the valves,Due to the lean burn they just soot up inside you can try Italy tuning it but it,s probably req stripped.Thats one of the reasons Volvo stopped using that unit.
